The conclusive evidence provided by the Prosecutor’s Office made it possible to clarify the femicide of a 23-year-old woman, which occurred last July in the eastern part of Antioquia.

At the request of the Attorney General’s Office, a judge imposed a prison sentence against Walter Holguín Caicedo, allegedly responsible for the femicide of his former partner.

The corpse of the 23-year-old victim was found in the rural area of El Chuscal in the municipality of El Retiro (Antioquia) on July 8. Her corpse had a gunshot to the head.

One day before her corpse was discovered, the woman, mother of two children, had been reported as missing by her family in Medellín.

The investigation showed that hours after her disappearance, presumably, the accused murdered her former partner. It is also believed that he used the victim’s cell phone to write to her family and pretended to be the woman and informed that she had had an accident.

Holguín Caicedo, 32 years old, was arrested by members of the Technical Investigative Corps in the municipality of Envigado (Antioquia) and did not plead guilty to aggravated femicide charged by the Prosecutor’s Office.
