The Attorney General Francisco Barbosa also announced the presentation of a bill to strengthen the staff of prosecutors, prosecutors’ assistants, and investigators

In Bucaramanga, the Attorney General, Francisco Barbosa Delgado, announced the creation of a specialized group that will lead the investigation of the management of the resources of the so- called Órganos Colegiados de Administración y Decisión OCAD Paz

“We have also made important decisions in recent days, such as the creation of a special task force for the investigation of cases related to the use of resources of the Ocad Paz that had been denounced under the care of the Special Directorate against Corruption”, stated the Attorney General Francisco Barbosa during the XII national event – Conversatorio Nacional de la Especialidad Civil y Familia led by Sala de Casación Civil de la Corte Suprema de Justicia.

In the framework of the meeting, the head of the investigative institution reiterated the importance of strengthening the judicial branch in all its instances. “In this sense, the Prosecutor’s Office must also be strengthened. We fully agree on this with the government´s program and with the new government of President Gustavo Petro on the need to move forward with a strategy of strengthening law enforcement agencies and especially the Prosecutor’s Office so that, within the framework of the principle of harmonious collaboration provided by the Constitution we can present a bill to increase the number of prosecutors, assistants, and investigators to achieve greater justice”, he stated.

The Attorney General reiterated the need to structure a better Prosecutor’s Office and warned that this can only be achieved if there are more judges and magistrates, and unrestricted support to the judicial branch, which plays an essential role in the country.

Finally, he presented a balance of the actions that the Prosecutor’s Office has carried out in the last two years in the fight against corruption. In this regard, he pointed out that 2,269 judicial convictions and 13,868 accusations have been achieved.
