The Attorney General encouraged the mayors of the country to assume the role of police chiefs in municipalities and main cities to achieve effective work against crime.

In the inter-institutional cooperation and follow-up meeting of the operational work, the Attorney General, Francisco Barbosa Delgado, and the Director of the National Police, General Jorge Luis Vargas Valencia, agreed to carry out joint strategies of judicial police between CTI, Dijín and Sijín to counteract different issues that affect public safety in the country.

“We work together in all actions related to not only public safety but also fight against drug trafficking, fight against corruption, and of course all issues related to the environment and the protection of human rights”, stated the Attorney General.

Likewise, he encouraged the mayors of the country to assume their role as police chiefs in each of their municipalities and main cities. “In that sense, the preventive work of the National Police will fulfill an important coordination task” to combat crimes that disturb citizens’ tranquility.

For his part, the Director of the National Police, General Jorge Luis Vargas Valencia recognized the work carried out by both institutions: “I congratulate all prosecutors in Colombia for the results that, in such an important and continuous way, are produced against criminal structures in the country”.

“The inhabitants of the country must be clear about the fact that there are two institutions that are a pillar of the institutionality for the Colombian citizens’ coexistence and tranquility”, stated General Vargas and he also added that the operational and investigative teams will be strengthened in order to achieve a significant reduction in crime.
