• Investigations to clarify seven murders that allegedly took place during the riots in Cali are underway. There are more than 185 processes related to urban terrorism underway.
  • The Attorney General, Francisco Barbosa Delgado, emphasized that the institution will rigorously investigate the complaints received about possible attacks against the population by the public force, as well as attacks by some people against officers of the National Police.

The Attorney General, Francisco Barbosa Delgado, in the company of his executive staff traveled to Cali (Valle del Cauca) to assess the evidence obtained by the special team of prosecutors who work with the investigative groups of the National Police and the CTI to establish the origin of the vandalism that occurred during the last days in the city.

“It was established that in the disorders and vandalism that occurred in the city of Cali in recent days, there are structures linked to drug trafficking, ELN and FARC dissidents operating in the department of Cauca”, revealed the Attorney General Barbosa Delgado.

Currently, seven murders that are allegedly related to disorders in Cali are under investigation; however, the circumstances of other deaths which took place during the week, are being verified.

Likewise, it has been established that the blockades near the city, in addition to affecting the food supply, also affected the right to health. The Attorney General warned that several doses of the vaccine for Covid – 19 could not reach the medical centers to immunize the citizens in Cali.

“I want to be emphatic, we will investigate all the attacks against the civilian population by the public force, but we will also be implacable with all the aggressions that are committed against the public force and the National Police,” said the Attorney General.

The Office of the Attorney General is carrying out 185 investigations related to urban terrorism in the country. In each region, prosecutors and judicial police groups have identified different situations and persons that influence the sabotage of legitimate protest.

“We also determined the existence of public servants who have instigated and organized the outrages that have occurred. For this reason, they will be found criminally liable”, concluded the head of the institution.

The Attorney General announced that, in Bogotá, there is a Command Post available to focus and monitor the investigative actions, to guide the judicial police teams and seek prompt results.
