In a four-day investigative action, the man accused of firing the weapon that allegedly killed the minor was identified and arrested.
The Attorney General’s Office will bring before a supervisory judge a person known as ‘Gaitán’, who would be involved in the death of a one-year-old minor with a firearm on February 27 in the neighborhood named 12 de Octubre in the city of Cali (Valle del Cauca).
The investigations revealed that two young people allegedly fired indiscriminately at a group of people and a fan who was painting a mural referring to a football team different from theirs. One of the bullets hit the girl who was in a park with her parents.
The victim was transferred to a health center, where she died three days later.
The evidence shows that one of the attackers would be ‘Gaitán’. This person was arrested as a result of search warrants carried out by the Sectional Office in Cali and the Sijin- Police in neighborhood Julio Rincón of the so-called Comuna 12. The detainee will be charged with aggravated murder.
This rapid investigative action corresponds to the prioritization of crimes that affect the life and safety of citizens as established by the Attorney General, Francisco Barbosa Delgado, in the Strategic Direction 2020-2024.
