The Office of the Attorney General and the National Police arrested alias Brayan, who allegedly indicated the location of the victims. Likewise, raids have been carried out to locate weapons, money and other items that would be related to the murders.
The investigative strategy established by the Attorney General, Francisco Barbosa Delgado, to jointly address collective murders, in the territory and in a comprehensive manner, allowed in 24 hours to identify and arrest an alleged member of the ELN who participated in the murder of five people and wounded another two on November 21st in the rural area El Mango in Argelia (Cauca).
The Special Itinerant Group, in a joint operation with personnel of CTI, Sijín National Police and the Army, arrested alias Brayan, who allegedly gave the group of hitmen the location and physical description of the victims.
The evidence indicates that this person would be in charge of collecting money from extortions and of the so-called ‘gramaje’ (weight) for the drug trafficking structures in the south and west area of Cauca.
The investigations indicate that the names of the people who were killed were on a list that the ELN leaders allegedly wrote and gave to alias Brayan and the hitmen who carried out the crime.
For these facts, the Office of the Attorney General charged Reneider Juzpián, alias Brayan before a supervisory judge, with aggravated murder and illegal possession of firearms. A detention order with imprisonment was requested by the Office of the Attorney General.
Investigative advance
After the occurrence of the murder and thanks to the evidence obtained by the Special Itinerant Group, in coordination with CTI, the National Police and the National Army, search warrants were carried out on three buildings in the aforementioned area in Algeria (Cauca).
In the proceedings, items related to the murders were seized. Likewise, 300 million pesos in cash and two firearms, which will be subjected to forensic examination, were seized.
Some people who were near the raids avoided the arrest in flagrante delicto of those who were allegedly responsible and would have in their possession the items found. There is a report indicating physical attacks against the members of the judicial commission.
” We are working and doing a rigorous study of these investigations every week. With this, the Office of the Attorney General continues producing results to the country,” said the Attorney General, Francisco Barbosa Delgado.
