After a month of investigations, the interdisciplinary team formed by the Office of the Attorney General and the National Police clarified the case by arresting and prosecuting alias Pacho.
The clarification of the murders that took place in the Department of Nariño, was prioritized by the Attorney General, Francisco Barbosa Delgado. The specialized group designated for that purpose managed, in a month of investigations, to identify and prosecute Francisco Ortega Gómez, alias Pacho, as the alleged person responsible for the murder of four men committed on September 4 in Buesaco (Nariño).
A municipal judge of mixed jurisdiction* with supervisory functions issued a prison sentence against alias Pacho for aggravated murder (series of similar crimes) and illegal possession of firearms.
The operation that allowed Ortega´s arrest was carried out on a public road in rural settlement Las Vegas in the municipality of San Lorenzo (Nariño) by CTI members and the National Police.
Within the investigative process, the Office of the Attorney General determined that alias Pacho, who was allegedly part of the Organized Armed Group (GAO) ELN, has a criminal record for terrorism for his alleged responsibility in the attack committed against a police station in the Department of Cauca in 2002.
The defendant did not plead guilty to the charges that were brought by the Office of the Attorney General. He was sent to a prison located in Pasto.
