For the same facts, Maritza Serna Bicoche, alias ‘Maritza’ was arrested. She was an ELN demobilized member and alleged member of the residual group ‘Jaime Martínez’, with whom she allegedly planned the crime.
In an operation that was carried in accordance with the strategic guidelines drawn up by the Attorney General, Francisco Barbosa Delgado, Edier Montenegro Muñoz was arrested. He is allegedly responsible for the murder of six people which took place on August 21 in the rural area of Ortega in a small town named Uribe in the municipality of El Tambo (Cauca).
Members of the Technical Investigative Corps (CTI) with the support of the Army and the National Police carried out the arrest. The defendant is accused of being the person who allegedly took the victims out of their permanent and work environments the day of the facts.
The operation was carried out in a public road in La Esmeralda neighborhood in Popayán (Cauca), the place where alias ‘Maritza’ was arrested; the first person arrested for these facts.
Montenegro was brought before a Special Prosecutor appointed to the Branch Office in Cauca who will bring him before a supervisory judge for the preliminary hearings.
The Office of the Attorney General will charge the defendant with aggravated criminal conspiracy, murder, aggravated kidnapping, illegal possession of firearms, and forced displacement.
