Thanks to the strategic direction of the Attorney General, Francisco Barbosa, a woman who was linked to the crime was identified and arrested. Including this case, there are seven cases that have been clarified and 17 people that have been prosecuted.
The investigations carried out by the Technical Investigative Corps (CTI) of the Office of the Attorney General, in coordination with the National Police led to the arrest of Maritza Serna Bicoche alias ‘Maritza’ who allegedly participated in the murder of six (6) people in the rural area of Ortega, in a small town named La Uribe, municipality of El Tambo (Cauca) on August 21.
The prioritization of investigations and prosecutions about criminal actions against citizens, which is under the leadership of the Attorney General Francisco Barbosa Delgado, allowed the identification of alias Maritza as one of the alleged perpetrators of the multiple homicides.
The evidence collected showed that this woman, a demobilized member of the ELN, organized a network to sell drugs in Popayán (Cauca) and that she was allegedly responsible for a violent dispute with other organizations in the area for the territorial control, among them, the so-called Grupo de Delincuencia Común Organizada (GDCO) ‘Los Primos’.
Alias Maritza had been arrested and sent to prison for drug trafficking offenses before but later, she was released and she became a member of the residual structure ‘Jaime Martínez’ and then, she allegedly planned and committed the murder of six people in El Tambo.
This result is the product of investigations carried out by the special task groups appointed by the Attorney General, Francisco Barbosa Delgado. This strategy allowed the prosecution of 17 people and the clarification of seven criminal acts that caused 38 victims in Arauca, Nariño, Cali, and Cauca.
