On July 24, the Criminal Court of the Special Circuit of Armenia (Quindío) sentenced Jessica Tatiana Arias Ruiz in a virtual hearing for the commission of aggravated criminal conspiracy, illegal possession of firearms, torture, and attempted murder. At the time, these charges were brought by the Office of the Attorney General.
The defendant who was in charge of the storage of the illegal substances was part of the criminal organization Los Ibéricos, also known as La Linea de la Muerte.
This organization that was involved in the distribution of narcotic substances would also be responsible for committing several murders due to territorial control or settling accounts in Circasia (Quindío).
Since the defendant plead guilty to the abovementioned criminal charges, her participation as author was reduced to accomplice and must serve a prison term of 129 months and pay a fine of 1,400 monthly minimum wages.
The sentence became final and alternative sentences were not granted.
