After the Office of the Attorney General charged César Enrique Torregrosa Daza with aggravated murder, the Third Criminal Court of the Circuit of Valledupar (Cesar) sentenced him to 37 years in prison for causing the death of a minor under 12 years old on January 16, 2013.

The convincing nature of the evidence presented by the  Office  of the Attorney General revealed that on January 11, 2013, the defendant under false pretenses removed a minor from his home and took him to a ditch located in the north area of the main city of Cesar.

After a distressing search carried out by his family and local authorities, the boy’s corpse was found with wounds produced with a sharp weapon in his neck.

Thanks to the investigations that were supported by the group of Judicial Police, it was possible to implicate Torregrosa Daza by specifying that the action was committed in order to keep the minor quiet and thus avoiding that a theft he had committed days before was made public.

In the course of the oral trial, the accusing body proved the theory of the case and achieved a guilty verdict and a sentence ratified by the Superior Tribunal of Valledupar.

The Office of the Attorney General makes this information public for reasons of general interest.
