In compliance with the policy implemented by the Attorney General of providing access to justice in territories, the Branch Office in Antioquia, through the Technical Investigative Corps, with the support of Sijín- National Police and the Army, dismantled three criminal structures that operate in the region of Urabá and the eastern area of Antioquia and arrested and prosecute 42 of its members.
The first operation was carried out in the municipality of Turbo (Antioquia) in which 14 alleged members of 2 gangs known as Los Batman and Los Pamperos that committed different kinds of theft in that port of Urabá were arrested by virtue of a court order. Another 7 alleged members of the aforementioned gangs were notified in the prisons where they serve a prison term for other processes about the investigations carried out against them.
25 crime reports, most of them for crimes against economic heritage were associated to achieve the arrests and prosecutions.
The 21 defendants were charged with criminal conspiracy aimed at committing theft, aggravated robbery, aggravated murder, drug trafficking, personal injuries, extortion, criminal restraint and prison escape.
The second inter-institutional operation was carried out in the municipality of Rionegro (Antioquia) in which 21 people, allegedly linked to the criminal organization Los Pamplona that was involved in drug trafficking in at least 15 neighborhoods and sectors of the aforementioned population were arrested by virtue of a judicial order. All the defendants were charged with criminal conspiracy aimed at drug trafficking and must serve a prison sentence.
