Yacid Durán Claro, alias Galillo, was brought before a supervisory judge in Cúcuta at the request of the Office of the Attorney General. He is accused of participating in the murder of the human rights defender, Luis Alcides Tarazona Salamanca on November 8, 2019, in the village Miramontes in Tibú (Norte de Santander) and the attempted murder of his sentimental partner.
Alias Galillo would be part of the criminal organization Los Pelusos that was allegedly responsible for crimes that took place in several municipalities and rural settlements of the Department of Norte de Santander. According to the evidence, this organization ordered and committed the murder of Tarazona Salamanca who served as Secretary in the cooperation of traditional miners (Cooperación de Mineros Artesanales de Tibú) in Norte de Santander, coordinator of the peasant association in Catatumbo (Asociación Campesina del Catatumbo), tax adviser of the social action committee in a rural settlement known as Miramontes.
A prosecutor from the Special Investigation Unit charged Yacid Durán Claro with aggravated murder; manufacturing, trafficking, possession of firearms and ammunition; attempted murder, and aggravated criminal conspiracy for the purpose of extorting, forced displacement, and drug trafficking.
This person was arrested in a joint operation between the Office of the Attorney General, the National Police and the Army, in the sector named Villa de San Diego, in the municipality Los Patios (Norte de Santander).
