On May 27, the Office of the Attorney General charged Heriberto Montoya Hernández as the alleged security chief of Tulio Varón commission´s ringleader belonging to the Organized Armed Group (Grupo Armado Organizado Residual Gaor E6).

In virtual hearings, the defendant did not plead guilty to the charges of trafficking, manufacturing and/or possession of firearms, and trafficking or possession of firearms  for the exclusive use of the Military Forces.

Thanks to information provided by a human source, members of Sijin and Army arrested the defendant on May 26 in rural settlement La Cascada, in Anzoátegui (Tolima).

The material and physical evidence that was collected in the operation might help the investigation that is carried out by a prosecutor of Ibagué who was assigned to the Special Directorate against Criminal Organizations.

The commission Tulio Varón would be involved in the illegal recruitment of people and in committing murders, as well as simple kidnappings.

A detention measure with imprisonment was issued for the defendant.
