The defendant appeared this morning before the Technical Investigative Corps (CTI) of that municipality located in Huila due to the pressure of the authorities who were tracking him for the crimes of illegal housing development and aggravated scam.

CTI members belonging to the Public Administration Unit (Unidad de Administración Pública) of the Office of the Attorney General arrested Urbano López Arias, councilor in active duty and elected councilor of La Plata (Huila), after he turned himself in due to an arrest warrant that was issued against him for the offenses of illegal urbanization and aggravated scam.

He is investigated by the Office of the Attorney General for the facts that took place between 2014 and 2016 when he was also a town councilor and he allegedly offered a housing project called Villa Karolina to several citizens who paid between $6,000,000 and $ 10,000,000 pesos per lot.  It is a possible irregular appropriation of $ 242,720,000 pesos that were provided by 36 of the 39 victims.
