As a result of a joint work between the Office of the Attorney General and customs police Dirección de Policía Fiscal y Aduanera (Polfa), thirteen police officers in duty accused of favoring the smuggling of hydrocarbons in Norte de Santander were arrested.

According to an investigation carried out by the Special Directorate on Financial Investigations, the gas “coming from Venezuela” was stored in large illegal warehouses in the Department of Norte de Santander to be subsequently distributed and sold.

According to the evidence collected, the illegal hydrocarbon smuggling network managed to avoid National Police controls after the alleged payments of bribes to officers exceeding  $ 9′ 300,000 and  pesos belonging to the Police Station Rio de Oro in Cesar.
