The inhabitants of 19 municipalities near the mega work Hidroituango will continue under the protection measures requested by the Office of the Attorney General which were granted in last June 12.

This decision was adopted by the 28th Criminal Court of the Circuit of Bogotá when it confirmed requests made by the 40 Special Prosecutor´s Office against Human Rights Violations (DECVDH) in favor of the communities of 19 municipalities of Antioquia that were impacted by the hydroelectric project in Ituango.

The judge pointed out that, as stated by the prosecutor of the case, the lack of information about the real condition of the project and the possible risks makes it necessary to protect the inhabitants of the municipalities of Buriticá, Liborina, Caucacia, Tarazá, Toledo, Briceño, Ituango, Sabanalarga, Nechí, Valdivia, Pequea, Cáceres, Ayapel, San Marcos, Majagual, Guaranda, Achis, San Jacinto and Magangué.
