The Office of the Attorney General charged four councillors of Ibagué (Tolima) on August 22nd with breach of duty (action) for events that occurred in January 2016 when the municipal comptroller was irregularly elected, as determined by experts of the group of Public Administration of the Office of the Attorney General.
On this occasion the proceeding involves town councillors Ernesto Ortiz Aguilar, Marco Tulio Quiroga Mendieta, Víctor Julio Ariza Loaiza, and Víctor Hugo García Contreras who did not pled guilty to the charges.
The Office of the Attorney General considers that they fully affected the elections and the selection process, disrupting its validity, modifying the rules previously established and then choosing the person who did not comply with the rules required for said position.
