The Office of the Attorney General appealed decision made by  a guarantee judge (juez de control de garantías) who ordered house arrest for mayor of Sucre (Cauca). The Secretary of Planning of the same locality is also among those accused.

According to decision made by the Second Court of Guarantees (control de garantías) a prison sentence was issued for two individuals and home detention for other three people, including the Secretary of the Planning Office in Sucre (Cauca) for their alleged involvement in natural resource damages.

According to the Office of the Attorney General, Carlos Ruber Mora Mora, mayor of Sucre; Jerson Fernández Serna, Secretary of the Planning Office; as well as Jaider Andrés Cardona Mayo, Jessica Paola Muñoz Patiño and Jorvis Ferney Marín were accused of participating in the environmental contamination of rural settlement Zaque, affecting rivers Guachicono de Bolívar and Patía (Cauca) through illegal mining exploitation.
