Hard blow against illegal mining
Five alleged members of an organization engaged in trafficking gold extracted from illegal mining zones that affect rivers and forests of four Departments in the southwest part of the country have been arrested by National Police and the Office of the Attorney General in Cali.
Thanks to investigations conducted by the Office of the Attorney General and National Police, it was possible to establish with accuracy the final destination of most of the gold that was illegally extracted from gold deposits in Cauca, Nariño, Chocó and Valle del Cauca.
Evidences gathered for two years allowed to hold a criminal organization which used a facade of a prosperous minerals trading Company ‘Enmanuel Gold S.A.S’, responsible for obtaining illegally extracted gold and its subsequent legalization through several commercial manoeuvres in which false documents were used.
