In regard to a remedy of appeal, the 43rd Circuit Court in Bogotá hearing the case (juez de conocimiento in spanish) has decided in favor of the Office of the Attorney General since former governor in La Guajira, Rayeth Pinto Pérez, intended to recover her freedom in an ongoing lawsuit process filed against her for embezzlement, undue interest in the execution of contracts, execution of contracts without compliance of the legal requirements, forgery of a public and private document.
Facts which are under investigation are related to complaints filed before several Control Entities of the Department warning about irregular practices committed in 2011 which involve serious “corrupt practices” since public funds and money aimed at reducing children malnutrition in this area of the country were diverted.
