At the request of the Office of the Attorney General, the 49th Criminal Court in Bogotá (Guarantee Court) refused to grant release for former director of the Colombian Antidrug Office (Direccion Nacional de Estupefacientes (DNE)), Carlos Salvador Albornoz Guerrero, who was accused of being the alleged perpetrator of embezzlement for the profit of third parties and breach of duty.
The Office of the Attorney General stated that the request made by the defense to the law enforcement was aimed at obtaining the defendant´s release due to statute of limitations, but in the middle of the hearing, the lawyer asked for the substitution of the measure for a home detention order despite the fact that it was not the purpose of the hearing summoned.
