Preventive detention orders were issued due to misappropriation of funds of the Colombian Family Welfare Institute*

The 9th Municipal Court in Medellin (Guarantee Court) issued a preventive detention order with home confinement against Jorge Albeiro Rodríguez Ruíz (44- year-old) and Luz Dary Casas Jaramillo (33-year-old) allegedly involved in the forging of contracts in order to appropriate funds which are used for protection and care of unprotected children in Yarumal (Antioquia).

According to the investigation which was conducted by a prosecutor belonging to the Unit on Crimes against Public Administration, Rodríguez Ruíz and Casas Jaramillo, contractors of the Colombian Family Welfare Institute (Instituto Colombiano de Bienestar Familiar – ICBF) signed a contract for the provision of a service for a kindergarten located in that area and a group of community mothers to the amount of 235 million pesos. Facts took place this year in the month of January.
