Former congressman in Caldas, Carlos Hernán Serna Trejos, was sentenced to 12 years in prison by the 10th Criminal Court in Bogotá which has jurisdiction over this matter for conspiracy to murder a human rights defender, Orlando Antonio Hernández Hernández.
The above mentioned person was acquitted of murder of a protected person, aggravated extortion and training to commit illegal activities.
Facts are related to a crime committed with bladed weapons and firearms against a union leader on august 22, 2006 in a rural settlement named La Plata, a municipality of Palestina (Caldas).
