Progresses made in more than 300 cases on crimes against human rights

The Office of the Attorney General through the National Office specialized in Human Rights achieved the following results between August 2016, when Attorney General Néstor Humberto Martínez Neira took office, and March 2017.

Due to violations of human rights and violations of the International Humanitarian Law, charges were brought in 159 cases and warrants of arrest were issued for 292 people under Law 600 of 2000. Likewise, 71 charges were attributed and 106 people were accused under Law 906 of 2004.

During the seven months 198 convictions were pronounced, 115 of them were under plea bargain and 83 in trial.  Decisions involved 254 defendants who were involved in offenses committed against 945 victims.
