Attorney General of Mexico, Raúl Cervantes Andrade and Attorney General in Colombia, Néstor Humberto Martínez Neira held a meeting today April 27, 2017 to sign a “Cooperation Agreement for information and experience exchange in order to fight against transnational organized crime, drug trafficking, corruption, related and high-impact crimes between the Office of the Attorney General in Mexico and the Office of the Attorney General in Colombia”. This agreement will allow expeditious and effective information exchange between both countries.
At the event, they agreed to call a meeting for next August “ First bilateral meeting on organized crime between the Office of the Attorney General in Colombia and Office of the Attorney General in Mexico” in which legislative progress will be addressed, best practices and distinguished cases will be shared. Particular emphasis will be placed on information exchange concerning criminal phenomena such as informal lending, locally known as “gota a gota”, burglaries, and seizure if illegal assets.
