Preventive detention orders with imprisonment were issued by a judge with supervisory functions (control de garantías) in Bogotá for 5 police officers for the alleged commission of aggravated criminal conspiracy and extortion in facts that took place between 2011 and 2015 in the Department of Valle del Cauca.
Thanks to investigations conducted by the Criminal Investigation Division and Interpol (Dirección de Investigación Criminal e Interpol), under the coordination of a Sectional Office denominated Gespol in Bogotá, it was possible to determine the existence of a criminal organization involved in an illegal heavy freight trucks scrapping process. They used some vehicles with the intention of receiving an economic aid from the Ministry of Transport since this State institution helps truck drivers with 40 to 70 million pesos.
