Preventive detention orders were issued by a supervisory judge (control de garantías) in Medellin (Antioquia) for eight individuals who allegedly belonged to a criminal network engaged in trafficking girls into prostitution in the area of Leticia.

As a result of an operation which was carried out by the Office of the Attorney General, the National Police and Peruvian authorities, twelve people were arrested since they would be part of a criminal network involved in human trafficking offenses for purposes of prostitution and forced labour. According to this investigation, these people committed criminal conspiracy, transnational human trafficking, procuring and induced women to engage in prostitution.
