A person was condemned to 17 years in prison for the murder of the Director of the Legal Institute of Medicine which is based in the North area of the country

Alberto Mario Cabrera Barrios, also known as “Ñeco” was sentenced to 212 months in prison after a preliminary agreement was carried out with the 18^th Regional Prosecutor´s Office belonging to the so called unit “Unidad de Vida”. Defendant pled guilty to participating in the murder of the regional director of the Legal Institute of Medicine (Instituto de Medicina Legal Regional Norte), Eduardo Enrique Pinto Viloria, which took place in May 4th.

Decision was made by the 6^th Specialized Circuit Court in Barranquilla who has jurisdiction over this matter (juez de conocimiento) after approving a plea agreement between the defendant and the Office of the Attorney General. Charges that were attributed were aggravated murder (criminal conspiracy), robbery and illegal firearms possession.
