During his visit to Cali (Valle del Cauca) in order to attend a congress (XVII Congreso de Abogados Javerianos “Desarrollo y Paz”), Attorney General Néstor Humberto Martínez Neira confirmed that arrests warrants issued for ELN* negotiators in peace talks were cancelled.
Attorney General stated: “ National government sent a communication to the Office of the Attorney General informing about appointments of ELN negotiators and therefore, the Office of the Attorney General decided to cancel arrests warrants for these spokesmen for the purpose of beginning peace talks with ELN”.
He also stated that the institution will provide assistance in order to begin dialogues as soon as possible, under a regulatory framework.
