A judge with supervisory functions “control de garantias” decided not to revoke the preventive detention order with imprisonment which was issued for the mayor of the municipality of Yopal, John Torres Torres, after accepting arguments presented by the Office of the Attorney General, and due to the pieces of evidence and progresses made in his trial.
At the hearing, the prosecutor requested to hold the preventive detention order for the accused person since it was considered that Torres represents a danger to society as he is still holding his position as major and he would put the municipality’ resources at risk.
