Preventive detention orders were issued against ten alleged “fleteros” from two criminal gangs in Cauca

A judge with supervisory functions (control de garantías) approved the request made by the Office of the Attorney General and issued preventive detention orders against 10 alleged members of two criminal gangs engaged in “fleteo”¹ in the city of Popayán (Cauca).

Arrest warrants issued by a judge (juez promiscuo*)² in Rosas (Cauca) were conducted by members of the Criminal Investigation Team (CTI) and Sijin from National Police during 4 home searches. Likewise, three other individuals who remain in prison for other facts, were notified.

1. Fletero / fleteo: Colombian term used for a criminal who coordinates with other people some actions in order to steal money from a person who withdraws money from the bank.

2. Judge of mixed jurisdiction
