Recognizing sexual violence as a serious criminal phenomenon that affects women, men, children and teenagers in several scenarios, not only in peace but in war scenarios, poses a particular challenge to investigations that are conducted by the Office of the Attorney General concerning that type of crimes.

Interim Attorney General Jorge Fernando Perdomo signed a protocol that provides prosecutors and investigators from all the country with tools to strengthen institutional capabilities to investigate sexual violence in the country in an effective way. This protocol allows to develop investigations on these crimes by taking into consideration the context were facts took place and victims’ characterization.
