The Office of the Attorney General is trying to identify 2.300 human remains belonging to people who disappeared in the so called region “Los Llanos Orientales”

The Head of the National Division for Victims and Citizens Assistance, Digna Isabel Durán stated that graves and crypts in 7 cemeteries of the country were inspected  and 1.017 exhumations were carried out. Therefore, 897 corpses were identified.

Duran stated that the purpose is to alleviate pain and suffering of thousands of families in the country who have hoped for several years to find their loved ones. She referred to 160 exhumations of corpses initially conducted in a cemetery located  in La Macarena (Meta)  which belonged to victims of the armed conflict.
