Criminal Organization “Los Canarios” was dismantled in Bogotá

The Specialized Judicial Police Office against Organized Crime (PCO) with support of DIJIN and Gaula from Army arrested the last five members of the criminal organization “Los Canarios” which was engaged in kidnappings and robberies under the system of the so called “paseo millonario”*. A total of 35 people belonging to the criminal gang have been send to prison.

The organization´s priority was to operate in sectors such as Chapinero, Usaquén, Teusaquillo, Suba, Puente Aranda and Barrios Unidos. They used taxis for their purposes.

*Paseo millonario: A common tactic of robbery where victims are forced to use their ATM cards to empty their bank accounts.
