Four members of the extinguished criminal gang “La Terraza” at the service of the Self Defence Forces of Colombia (Autodefensas Unidas de Colombia (AUC)) were the perpetrators of the murder of the journalist Jaime Garzón in 1999 in Bogotá.
Attorney General, Jorge Fernando Perdomo stated that in order to assure the victims´ right to the truth and provide, in this case, to Jaime´s relatives, his closest people and citizens in general, an opportunity to know about what really happened, the Office of the Attorney General established that Yeimar de Jesús Arboleda Suárez, alias Yilmar; Alexander Londoño, alias Alex Sanpedro; Helquin Sánchez Mena, alias el Negro Elkin and Ángela María George Torres, alias Ángela were the individuals who murdered Jaime Garzón. Alexander Londoño was the person who shot Jaime Garzón to death and Yeimar de Jesús Arboleda Suárez drove the motorcycle used to transport the murderer.
