In November 24, Pedro Nel Moreno Romero was arrested When he arrived at Eldorado Airport on a charter flight from the United States since he was deported for committing the murder of Nelson Alcides López Garzón in 2007. The authorities who conducted the arrest were members of the National Directorate of specialized judicial police (Dirección Nacional de Articulación de Policías Judiciales Especializadas), Homeland Security Investigation (HSI) Team, DIJIN from National Police and Colombian Migration Authorities.
According to investigations, the facts occurred on July 11, 2007 in the municipality of Soacha (Cundinamarca) when Moreno Romero injured the victim with a blunt force weapon. Both of them were in a vehicle on the way to their homes after a farewell celebration for Pedro Nel as he was planning to travel to the United States.
