A total of 19.112 judicial hearings have been suspended in the country as a result of some Judicial Branch workers’ strike.
Camilo Burbano, National Director of the Prosecutor´s Accusatory Legal System (Sistema Penal Acusatorio y de Articulación en Materia Penal) explained that the city in which most of the proceedings have been postponed is Bogotá. “These hearings include trials on penal responsibility, hearings to bring charges, to issue preventive detention orders, among others”, causing significant delays in the system, fact that will not be overcome if the strike is not called off.
