The Judicial District´s Peace and Justice Chamber in Bogotá which has jurisdiction* over this matter sentenced Salvatore Mancuso Gómez, commander from the Self Defense Forces of Colombia (AUC) Catatumbo Bloc, to 8 years in prison as an alternative punishment for the commission of crimes against humanity.
As part of this sentence, there were also sentenced Jorge Iván Laverde Zapata, alias El Iguano; José Bernardo Losada Artuz, Isaías Montes Hernández, Lenin Giovanni Palma Bermúdez and Juan Ramón de las Aguas, ringleaders from the Self Defense Forces of Colombia who operated in the Caribbean Coast and in the Department of Norte de Santander.
