The High Court in Manizales (Caldas) ratified the sentence of 6 years in prison passed on the mayor of Puerto Boyacá, Luis Eduardo Álvarez Acevedo by the third Criminal Circuit (first Instance) for the offense of embezzlement.
A prosecutor belonging to the Specialized National Directorate of Prosecutor´s offices on Anticorruption brought charges against Meyer Reyes Bocanegra, David de Jesús Velásquez and the former mayor for the offense of misappropriation. They had been convicted in first instance by the 3rd Criminal Circuit Court in Manizales.
This decision also concerns David de Jesús Vásquez and Meller Reyes Bocanegra since they participated in the purchase and sale of several lots that were acquired by the mayor´s office in Puerto Boyacá for a $ 500 million overrun.
