1. On September 8, 2014 the Department of International Management asked the Department of Justice to verify whether Mr. Ariel Josué Martínez who was arrested with a view to  extradition on March 18, 2014 in San Vicente del Caguán is, in effect, the person wanted by the United States.

2. Yesterday, September 9, 2014 officials from Department of Justice informed the Attorney General’s Office that they will withdraw the extradition request for Ariel Josué Martínez who remains in La Picota Central Penitentiary Center in Bogotá.

3. Today, Wednesday we received from Ministry of Foreign Affairs an official notification of the United States Embassy in which the withdrawal of the request for extradition was formalized.

4. This afternoon the Attorney General, Eduardo Montealegre Lynett ordered the immediate release of Mr. Martinez.
