Prosecutors from several regional offices requested hearings to bring charges for fraud crimes with eligible voters, corruption of eligible voters, personal data violation, alteration of results, among others since during last parliamentary elections in March some irregularities were committed in seven cases.

In the first case, a Regional Prosecutor in Monteria (Córdoba) requested a hearing to bring charges against Jorge Francisco García, a parliamentary candidate, for a fraud crime with eligible voters as he offered access to free housing programs.

Regional Prosecutor in Quibdó (Chocó) requested a hearing to bring charges against Nimia Iris González, councilor in Nuquí for a corruption offense with eligible voters.

Also, in Bogotá charges will be brought against Luz Marina Vargas on charges of corruption with eligible voters as she offered scholar kits in exchange for a vote and against Javier Urrea Cuellar, a Chamber Representative for violating personal data allegedly committed at the Colombian Consulate in Madrid (Spain).

In Plato (Magdalena) region, an indictment will be filed against Rafael del Cristo Esquivia, officer of the Registry Office in Nueva Granada on charges of altering results, negligent falsehood, malicious falsehood, delay in handing over electoral documents and procedural fraud.

Moreover, in Sincelejo (Sucre), a  regional prosecutor will be bring charges against Álvaro Rafael Mejía on corruption of eligible voters since 18 million pesos, a list of people  and envelopes with names social leaders were seized.

The last of the seven hearings,  in this case a hearing to bring charges against Jorge García for forcing eligible voters will be conducted before a supervisory judge (control de garantías) in Marmato (Caldas).
