Today, the Attorney General’s Office will begin an arraignment hearing “audiencia concentrada”1 for the indictment and defendant’s plea regarding Arnubio Triana Mahecha and other 25 former commanders from the Peasant Self Defense Forces of Colombia in Puerto Boyacá (Boyacá).

Triana Mahecha, alias Botalón and the other “postulados”2 will be held liable for 423 events related to more than 672 victims at this priority hearing that will take place at Justice and Peace Courts in Bogotá. It will be transmitted to prisons in Itagüi (Antioquia) and Bucaramanga (Santander) through a videoconference.

1. Audiencia Concentrada: combined hearings for the indictment and for a defendant’s plea. It is like an arraignment hearing.

2. Postulados: demobilized members of illegal armed groups who postulated to obtain a benefit from the Justice and Peace Law.
