A Judge will convict a person who trafficks turtles in danger of extinction

The 42^nd Circuit Court hearing the case (Juzgado de Conocimiento) will pronounce a conviction against Victor Melo Saiza as he pled guilty of aggravated exploitation of renewable natural resources.

In this case, Melo Saiza was found in possession of lists to sell two Hicoteas turtles also called Morrocoy turtles which are native species from savannas and forests in Panama and Llanos Orientales and which are under special protection in Colombia.
