On Monday, the Deputy Assistant Attorney General, Jorge Fernando Perdomo Torres said that more than one thousand “Postulados” in Justice and Peace Law will not have the automatic right to be released and they will have instead a freedom expectation if they have met the requirements established on the demobilization laws. Therefore, the prosecuting authority will have to certify whether they told the truth and they handed over properties illegally obtained.
“We will have to analyze each case, each particular situation of thousands of prisoners who are in jail right now and who are “Postulados” in Justice and Peace Law to know whether they told the truth or they played a trick on justice,” said Perdomo Torres during the “Congress on International Law Views and Its Enforcement in Colombia”. Event which was organized by the Attorney General Office and Revista Semana magazine.
*Postulados: demobilized members of illegal armed groups who postulated to obtain a benefit from the Justice and Peace Law.
