The Attorney General Office expresses its deepest condolences to the families on the death of the 34 children in Fundacion (Magdalena ) on May 18, and shows its support through the accompaniment of Magdalena Regional Office, the Technical Investigations Team CTI, and the National Sub directorate for Victims Assistance.
The tragedy occurred in Altamira neighborhood when the bus in which the children between 3 and 12 years old were transported exploded after taking part of some recreation activities at the Christian church where they belonged.
6 psychologists, 22 investigators, and 3 officers, belonging to the Sub directorate for Victims Assistance supported the families of the victims in order to deal with crisis.
Likewise, the Attorney General Office reiterated its commitment to investigate these facts and therefore, a group of 6 investigators and criminalistics experts have been designed to work in coordination with the 27th Regional Prosecutor from this area in order to locate the vehicle´s owner pursuant an arrest warrant that has been issued against him.
Meanwhile, Manuel Salvador Ibarra Plaza (a spiritual leader) and Jaime Gutiérrez Ospino (a bus driver), the alleged perpetrators of homicide under wilfull misconduct with a serie of similar crimes, remain under custody in a prison facility.
