Subunit Elite of exhumations of the National Prosecution Directorate for Justice and peace, in view of the field work carried out with the information delivered by the postulates that accepted the benefits of Law 975 of 2005, works since 2007 across the country in the search for missing persons.

The work is reflected in the 5628 exhumation proceedings made ​​by the subunit and in 4189 excavations in single and multiple graves in which was found a total of 5390 bodies nationally. Of the total of exhumed bodies, 536 have possible identity, which according to the sample to relatives of the disappeared, are awaiting the results of forensic analysis aimed at obtaining full identity.

Moreover, 2371 remains have not been identified, 2483 were fully identified by forensic analysis. Of the identified bodies, 2338 were returned to their families in ceremonies performed by the subunit and 145 are pending to be delivered.

In addition to justice and peace cases and with information provided by the victim families of or other sources, the subunit has delivered 197 bodies fully identified in support of units on human rights, national unity of disappearance and forced displacement, sectional prosecutors and the Military Penal Justice.

Thus, through the work of prosecutors and investigators, the National Prosecution Unit for Justice and Peace, the prosecution fulfills its task of delivering true, justice and reparation for the Colombians.
