After agreeing a preliminary agreement with the attorney, advised by its proponents, 13 members of a criminal organization were sentenced by the Criminal Eighth Judge of the Specialized Circuit of Bogotá, to sentences ranging between 128 and 150 months in prison for the crimes of conspiracy to commit offenses and manufacture, trafficking or aggravated possession of drugs.
After 25 months of research conducted by the Attorney-11 of the National Narcotics and Maritime Interdiction Unit (Unaim), with support of the Anti-Narcotics Division of the National Police, established the existence of this criminal structure which from Corinto (Cauca) running marijuana to cities including Cucuta (Norte de Santander) and Maicao (Guajira).
In development of the process, between December 2011 and July 2013, 19 seizures were carried out in the departments of Cauca, Valle del Cauca, Tolima, Norte de Santander, La Guajira and Bogotá; that threw as a result the interception of 46 tons of the narcotic, which would be trafficked in the aforementioned destinations.
The Prosecutor in the case announced the two modalities that used the Organization to transport the drug. The first of them was through vehicles, in which camouflaged the drugs between industrial paper rolls and construction material as bricks and porcelain; and refrigerated trucks for transport of such foods as chicken and fruit. The other modality was by companies for the carriage of parcels.
The convicts were identified as: Walter Ramos, alias Chillon; Miguel Angel Reyes Balanta, alias tio; Hugo Javier Tejada Pérez, alias pan de bono; Ronal Calderón Rodríguez, alias PVC; Víctor Alfonso Triviño Ipia, alias Victor; Yeiner Andrés Arteaga, alias Yeiner; Andrés Felipe García, alias Mono; Gonzalo Yepes Ramírez, alias Fredy narizon; Luis Hernán Castañeda Erazo, alias Peludo; Evaristo Hernando pulido Barrera, alias viejito; Hernando de Jesús Castañeda, alias Calvo; José Humberto Hernández Montoya, alias Flaco and Amadeo Ruíz Largo, alias Amadeo.
All remain deprived of freedom in the national model jail in Bogota except alias Amadeo, who is being held in a prison in Cali (Valle del Cauca).
