However, when referring to the Bill that ended its initial passage in the Congress, said that the reform fell short because it limited only to an increase in penalties. “I think in the next legislature should return to present things to search for administrative solutions,” he added.
At this point, he stated that he is opposed to a criminal policy that is based on the increase in penalties. “I think that the Government should resume topic to look at administrative sanctions” such as suspension of driver’s license by long lapses, seizures of cars, extinctions of domain on certain assumptions, among others.
As for the deaths generated by drunk drivers, Montealegre was emphatic in stating that “it is already banned in the Penal Code. Even if it is rash actions, these behaviors may be referred to as fraudulent.
