The Attorney-General decided to suspend the opportunity principle that was processed for Jesús Alberto Martínez Durán, Colmenares case witness, after knowing the denounce that an inmate, subject to an extradition process by extortion which was target by the witness, when they were in the accusing entity dungeons.
In accordance with, Martínez Durán would have required money to the subject to extradition for some benefits in La Picota jail – Bogota, both within the Office of the Attorney-General. Apparently the sums ranged from three hundred thousand and one million (pesos), periodically, which were cancelled to people outside the prison.
Between the supposed benefits that Martínez Durán to extradited persons gave, was safety, since this would have contacts in the La Picota prison to provide protection. Also, was determined that failure to do effective the extortion payment, the person’s life inside the penitentiary would risk once were transferred there.
The prosecutor started criminal an investigation for these facts against Jesús Alberto Martínez Durán, as an extortion crime suspect.
However, Colmenares case is unaffected by this investigation and continues the procedural course independently, considering that the case has own evidence.
